The Seawatching hide on the Brigg and all the hides at Filey Dams are now closed, our members only reserve at East Lea is also closed. Please follow Government Guidelines and stay local. The FBOG Team  

As you are aware North Yorkshire has been placed in Tier 3 and as such I have to inform you that the Sea Watch and East Lea hides will no longer be accessible from midnight on January 1st, with no exceptions. To ensure that we retain Observatory status and the prestige that goes with it,

The northerly winds of the past few days have bought a lot of seabirds close inshore, including all the skuas, Sooty and Manx Shearwaters, Storm Petrel. Little Terns and Brent Geese. Worth looking out to sea if you can. Carr Naze gives good views if you can't face the walk to the sea-watch hut!

The Dams has pulled in a great selection of waders with the new water regimes working their magic. We have had Temminck's Stint, Wood Sandpiper, Black-tailed Godwit, Greenshank, Ruff, Green Sandpiper, Little Stint and even summer-plumaged Knot. Drop in and see what's there. The sum raised is now over £7000! Well done everyone, the Heligoland will be a fitting tribute to a great man who did so much for FBOG. Of course, the more we raise the more awesome the Heligoland will be!
