On 1st a Bar-tailed Godwit was in the Country Park, with two Lapland Bunting at the edge of the stubble field, North Cliff. The Velvet Scoter was still off Cable Landing but distant on 2nd. The East Lea Long-tailed Duck stayed for yet another month. On 4th five Puffin were on the sea off North Cliff. 54 Sanderling were on Hunmanby Gap beach and 50 Kittiwake feeding offshore. Two Short-eared Owl were hunting at the Tip on 5th and were seen all month. A single Snow Bunting was in the stubble field on 6th. 76 Wigeon & 27 Curlew were at East Lea on 7th. On 9th a Mediterranean Gull was on Filey Beach. A Chiffchaff was singing at Hunmanby Gap on 13th. There was a decent start to the spring vismig at Hunmanby Gap with 280 Chaffinch, 80 Linnet, 58 Meadow Pipit, 37 Starling, 21 Skylark, 16 Alba Wagtail, 13 Siskin, 2 Redwing & 3 Pink-footed Goose all moving south. A Red Kite was over Filey Town. A Waxwing was on wires at Hunmanby Gap car park briefly on 15th. A female Marsh Harrier seen from Car Park Hide at the Dams on 16th. On 20th hundreds of thrushes were grounded on Carr Naze mainly Blackbirds with some Redwings and Song Thrush. The first Sand Martin flew over East Lea on 21st. One, then two Black Redstart were seen on 21st -22nd on Carr Naze. A drake Red-breasted Merganser was on the sea off Carr Naze steps on 22nd. A Wheatear was on the edge of a stubble field. On 26th a White Wagtail was between Long Lane and the dog field. A Woodlark flew south at Muston Sands and Hunmanby Gap on 30th. Two Little Egrets were at Filey Dams.
