The Long-tailed Duck continued its amazing stay at East Lea all month. A Ring Ouzel was on Carr Naze on 1st. On 2nd three Great Northern Diver, seven Red-throated Diver and two Common Scoter were in the bay. Two Short-eared Owl took up a month-long residence at the Tip on 2nd. A Scandinavian Rock Pipit was on Carr Naze. A male Blackcap was feeding in the large bramble patch behind the flower meadow at East Lea. On 3rd a Black Redstart and a second Ring Ouzel of the year were in the bay corner.  Three Short-eared Owl were around the tip. On 5th a female Mallard with six ducklings at East Lea and 25 Yellowhammer were at western end of Long Hedge and feeding in Top stubble field. Seven Swallow flew south at Hunmanby Gap on 6th, with a Yellow Wagtail. A Willow Warbler sang on the Tip side of Parish Wood. A Red Kite was at Newbiggin. A Greenshank was at Filey Dams. On 7th two adult Mediterranean Gulls south off Brigg end, with a Redwing on the Brigg. Vizmig at the Gap produced 447 Siskin, 94 Chaffinch, 13 Crossbill, 39 Swallows south plus Ring Ouzel, Red Kite and the first House Martins.  A Wheatear was at Carr Naze pond on 8th, with a Common Sandpiper at East Lea. Nine Wheatear were on a ploughed field near football pitch. A single Redwing was in Long Hedge / Rocket Pole Field on 9th. A Spoonbill circled over Filey Dams on 10th, with a Marsh Harrier. The Spoonbill was again present on 11th. A female Redstart was in Parish Wood. A drake Mandarin was at Filey Dams on 13th. A Hooded Crow flew south at Hunmanby Gap. A Whitethroat was at the Tip. On 14th Lesser Whitethroat, Whitethroat, 3 Blackcap, 2 Willow Warbler & 4 Chiffchaff were in the clifftop scrub at Hunmanby Gap. On 16th 22 Manx Shearwater flew north at Hunmanby Gap in 45 minutes. Two Sandwich Terns flew north on 17th. A Crane flew north on 18th. A group of 18 Sandwich Terns was off Coble Landing on 19th, with a pair of Goosander at East Lea.  Two Bar-tailed Godwits were with Oystercatchers on Filey Golf Course on 20th. 600 Fulmar, 3 Manxies, 2 Arctic Tern north and 19 Sandwich Tern south from Hunmanby Gap and Filey Brigg on 21st. A Sedge Warbler was at Filey Golf Course pond. On 24th Red-breasted Merganser south, 2 Manx Shearwater and 5 Arctic Tern north at Hunmanby Gap and two Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Blackcap sang in clifftop scrub. Little Egret, Long-tailed Duck, Common Sandpiper, Great Black-backed Gull, Lesser Whitethroat, Reed Warbler & Grasshopper Warbler were at Filey Dams. Four late Pink-footed Geese flew on 25th. A Whimbrel on the football field, and a Greenshank on the flash. The first Swift went over The Dams on 28th. Two Ring Ouzels were at the Tip. A Hooded Crow flew north. Two Short-eared Owls were present at Hunmanby Gap. At least 12 Wheatear, 4 Yellow Wagtail and 3 Ring Ouzel were in the Top stubble field. On 30th at least 17 Wheatears were present. Two Ring Ouzel were at Hunmanby Gap. A Spotted Flycatcher was at Filey Dams car park.
