The month started slowly with a Wood Sandpiper at Filey Dams. On 3rd 210 Swifts flew north (over the bay) at Hunmanby Gap in the early morning. A Hobby carrying what looked like a small bird flying low across Filey Dams, with a Little Egret briefly at East Lea. Nine Black-tailed Godwits went south

The spring migrants started appearing this month. On 1st Sand Martin at East Lea, Little Egret and six Common Snipe at Filey Dams, and a Short-eared Owl at the Tip. On 2nd two Grey Plover circled Tip briefly before flying off north. A Red Kite flew over town towards Dams. A Water Rail rescued from
On 1st 50 Pink-footed Geese flew north over Tip. A Chiffchaff at Hunmanby Gap earlier flew towards The Bay. Ten White-fronted Geese frequented East Lea all month. Another quiet month On 1st 26 Curlew on farmland adjacent to East Lea pool. A long-staying Red-necked Grebe (all through February) was off Carr Naze.
