Crossbills were often seen this month, particularly at Hunmanby Gap. Most of the bird action was there as well. One was in Glen Gardens on 1st. Two Barnacle Geese went south at the Gap on 6th, most likely feral birds. On 7th a pair of Little Ringed Plovers and a pair of Yellow Wagtails were at the Dams.  per Nick R. On 13th 159 Crossbills and 250 Swifts went south at Hunmanby Gap. East Lea had one Green Sandpiper. Five Manx Shearwaters were off the Gap on 16th.  Red-veined Darters appeared mid-month at the Dams. On 19th five Black tailed Godwits were at the Dams. A female Gadwall with 2 fresh chicks were at the Dams on 20th. On 21st 35 Crossbills, 35 Siskin, 65 Swift south and an adult Mediterranean Gull north at the Gap.  On 22nd two Red Kite and 1378 Swifts south at the Gap. Three adult Mediterranean Gulls flew north at the Gap on 25th. On 26th at the Gap (yet again) 19 Crossbill, 105 Swifts, 6 alba White Wagtails and 14 Sand Martin flew south. On 27th 50 Crossbills, 11 Siskin and a Kingfisher (2nd record) south at the Gap. A female Goosander on the Brigg later flew south.  A Red Kite and a Hobby were at the Dams. A Lesser Emperor dragonfly was at Primrose Valley pond for the 4th year running. Finally 85 Crossbill flew south over a garden at Hunmanby Gap between 0430 and 0530h on 30th.
