COVID-19 VIRUS STATEMENT – FBOG

Following the stricter rules from the Government to fight this pandemic,  it saddens us to say this but to maintain the new government directions and in consultation with the YWT we will be locking the hides at Filey Dams, the gate to East Lea and the seawatch hide. Please do not use any of these until the rules are relaxed. Other walks will be open but please abide by the new rules of no larger groups of two and only of people from the same residence.  We will reopen them as soon as we can. In the meantime can I encourage those who live in Filey to still let us know what you see flying over or using your garden or on your ‘one walk a day’ exercise.  But above all stay safe and healthy.

With these new rules the Spring Migration weekend (in conjunction with Flamborough Bird Observatory) due to be held in May 2020 remains postponed and it is hoped this disease will be under control and movement/gathering restrictions lifted in order to continue with the October Ringing and Migration Week (11th – 18th) Once we have battled through this pandemic, we will get things back to normal at the Observatory.
